In the first KF1 start, the new CIK speed control system is being used. It is now limited to 50kph, which will not cause any problems for the competitors as the speed of the poleman, Davide Fore, was 34kph for the first lap and 45kph for the second.
Starting on the front row, Alessandro Bressan lost places on the first lap and Jack Te Braak quickly went into second behind Fore. Following the were Jeremy Iglesias, Matias Laine, and Matt Truelove. Te Braak was in Fore’s shadow and less than a tenth behind. However, the Maranello driver resisted the young Dutch Zanardi driver. Behind them, things were moving with the recovery of Nikolaj Bollingtoft in fifth and Yannick De Brabander sixth. Gary Catt was also very fast.
Matias Laine, in third, moved closer to his rivals. Bollingtoft took fourth, always followed by De Brabander who rubbed a little with Bressan. On the seventh lap, Te Braak found an opening on Fore and took control of the race. The top three stayed very close so while we thought Fore would be able to re-attack it was Laine who passed. He was fired up and pressed Te Braak with a little too much enthusiasm but without adverse consequences. However, Fore managed to regain his second place on the last lap.
Victory went to Te Braak ahead of Fore, Laine, Bollingtoft and Bressan.
